Harvey Norman's Moore Park store in Sydney sold the first retail copy of Riven in the world when it opened its doors at midnight on October 30 to coincide with the worldwide release of the game.
Gary Wheelhouse, proprietor of Harvey Norman Moore Park, was awarded with a plaque from Br¿derbund, the publisher of Riven, to commemorate the event.
The Moore Park store had 2000 copies of Riven in stock on day one, the much anticipated sequel to Myst (3.5 million copies of which have been sold worldwide).
Along with the midnight release, the store was host to the Great Riven Playoff - four gamers took the 40-hour challenge to play Riven for $3000 in software from Dataflow and Harvey Norman.
