Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has promoted its midrange and channel product marketing manager, Timothy Smith, to the position of marketing manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Smith replaces Graeme Gleave, who held the head marketing manager’s position for HDS for five years.
General manager of HDS, Michael Cremen, said 75 highly qualified candidates had applied for the marketing manager’s position.
As well as maintaining the role of channel and midrange marketing manager for the past two years, Smith also boasts a total of seven year’s experience in product marketing and business development roles.
Cremen said although HDS had not implemented any changes to its channel strategy to coincide with Smith’s appointment, his knowledge and experience in the storage industry would allow the company to continue to strengthen relationships with its channel partners, and increase its portion of the storage market in the region.
“HDS has appointed Smith because his background and knowledge of the company can be applied immediately in further building the company’s profile in Australia and New Zealand,” he said. “In addition, we can leverage on more in-depth channel marketing programs from his insights in our channel partnerships. Smith’s combined experience with mid-range products and the channel will also help us reach out to our SME customers faster.”
Cremen said current channel director, Greig Guy, would fill the position of marketing manager for midrange and channel until a replacement for Smith was found.
HDS is currently interviewing candidates for the role.
