Kaz has announced it has won a $4.3 million managed IT services contract with Western Power.
Under the three and a half year agreement which has extension options, Kaz will provide Western Power with a fully managed, standby disaster recovery service including infrastructure hosting and management services to recover critical IT&T systems in the event of a disaster at the utility's Perth Head Office.
Western Power generates around 60 percent of Western Australia's electricity and has five power stations servicing 800,000 customers and annual revenues totalling $1.7 billion.
Western Power managing director Tony Iannello said Kaz won the deal because it was willing to share risk and incorporate high service levels into the agreement.
He said the company's full DR capability will go live in September.
