Organic growth as well as acquisitions will be the key priorities for newly installed managing director of systems integrator, UCMS Solutions, Steve Sparkes.
He replaces Auckland-based Mark Maddren, who was also one of the company founders. Maddren has stepped down into a non-executive director's role but will still be involved with the company's strategy and customers.
"We have consciously moved the managing director role back into Sydney, which will hopefully bring us more focus in the Australian market," Sparkes said.
He hopes to replicate the company's success in New Zealand and plans to take advantage of its relationships with technology partners to help grow the company.
In the long term, he would be looking to tackle acquisitions or mergers to expand UCMS, but his immediate concern would be to achieve organic growth within Australia.
"The business is very solid in New Zealand and I'm going to leverage that and replicate it," Sparkes said.
His main focus in the new role would be to include additional sales and technical resources. He is anticipating recruiting about a dozen sales and business development staff within the next year including service and technical delivery staff.
Sparkes brings more than 20 years of experience to the position and has previously worked at Security Mail, CSC, Wang Global and Hitachi Data Systems.
