Sydney-based Altech Computers has picked up a distribution contract with printer vendor, Kyocera Mita.
The deal will allow the distributor to chase the SMB market in a more effective way with Kyocera's range of Ecosys printers, according to Altech managing director, Antony Sheen.
"We already have Samsung on our books but those are entry-level products," he said. "Kyocera means we can look at SMBs."
Kyocera terminated distribution deals with Cellnet and Dicker Data in April. It also lost another distributor when Tecksel went bust in July. Its current distributors include Ingram Micro and Alloys International.
Sheen said the Japanese vendor's environmental credentials also held some appeal.
"We're happy that Kyocera is producing a very green product," he said. "It has technology that helps save energy and materials."
