Maxtor has announced its latest external hard drive model, the 120 gigabyte USB 2.0, which triples the storage capacity for its Personal Storage 3000LE external hard disk drive products.
The Personal Storage 3000LE family, which also includes a 40GB model, has been designed to back up and archive the increasing amount of large files present today, including digital photos, audio clips, graphics, home videos and electronic games. The USB interface also allows users to transport large files between multiple systems without having to turn on their PCs.
USB 2.0 will connect with most existing USB ports and is backward compatible with USB 1.1. To assist users upgrading previous generation desktop and laptop computers and PCs to USB 2.0 performance, Maxtor also offers a USB 2.0 PCT Adaptor card, which features four external and one internal high-speed ports.
The 120GB 3000LE will be available nationally in April and will retail for around $899. The 40GB personal storage model has an RRP of $545.
