NCR appoints alliances manager for channel push

Bill Thompson brought on to assist the vendor's channel partners locally

NCR is making a concerted push on its local channel business and has appointed Bill Thompson as strategic alliances manager for South Pacific.

The vendor, which specialises in assisted and self-service solutions for verticals such as retail, finance, travel, healthcare, hospitality and the public sector, has not had anyone solely responsible for the role, Thompson said.

“Previously we had a number of people looking after the channel as well as their regular jobs,” he said. “My appointment is to make NCR’s resources much more available to our channel.”

Thompson said he has a threefold plan to grow the local channel business. “I’m looking to broaden our channel base, which includes increasing the number of partners, and then increasing their penetration. My third focus is to introduce new technologies through the partner network.”

Thompson’s role also involves overseeing the NCR RealPartner Ready program in the South Pacific area. The RealPartner program is designed to assist NCR partners in promoting available store solutions to retailers and other partners.

“We’re actively getting involved in the sales and strategic efforts processes with our partners now,” Thompson said. “We want the process to be a joint resource allocation effort.”

Prior to his new role Thompson worked with NCR in the UK, managing its retail channel and was responsible for developing channel relationships at both a UK and global level. He is returning to Australia after a 20-year absence.
