Azentek yesterday launched the world's first fully integrated in-car PC into the Australian market.

The Azentek CPC-1200 and CPC-1100 units are in-dash computer systems designed to provide all the features of a high-end car audio system, in addition to full GPS navigation, connectivity to a mobile phone via Bluetooth, multimedia playback and optional automotive diagnostic capabilities.

The Azentek units are complete Windows Vista–based PC’s, running an Intel Core Duo processor, a 160GB Seagate hard drive and 1GB of RAM. The casing fits into both double (CPC-1200) and single DIN (CPC-1100) dash configurations. The GPS functions utilise NAVTEQ maps but run the Navigon user interface and features.

In addition to regular multimedia audio and GPS capabilities, the units allow users to send and receive emails via voice recognition and touch screen. They also feature integrated FM and digital TV tuners and are satellite radio and HD radio ready.

“The Azentek in-car technologies are ground-breaking products which provide the highest quality of features ever offered in automotive computer systems”, said Michelle Jin of Westwell Australia. “This award-winning technology is the future of in-car entertainment and we expect strong uptake in the local marketplace.”

Alongside the CPC-1200 and CPC-1100 units, Azentek has also unveiled the SmartMirror — a rear view mirror replacement with integrated GPS navigation. The mirror features a 4in touch-screen LCD monitor with integrated Bluetooth and also comes with a reversing camera.

The SmartMirror will be available in November from selected automotive accessory retailers and vehicle manufacturers for $1499 plus fitting. Pricing is yet to be announced for the CPC-1200 and CPC-1100 units, but they're expected to sell for around $4500 excluding fitting, and will be available in December.
