Websense and Avnet have launched a new education program for resellers
Websense has joined its Australian distributor, Avnet, to launch a new education program for resellers.
The certification program is aimed at improving partners’ proficiencies in product installation, configuration and operation. Avnet, which was appointed sole distributor for Websense in February, will take registrations and drive the partner network to sign up for the programs.
Websense country manager A/NZ, Phil Vasic, said the goal was to provide the channel with more education options by leveraging Avnet’s value-adding services.
“Previously, we were running channel training ourselves with a quarterly program,” Vasic said. “The new program means we won’t have internal staff running the program, and will link in more with Websense's global certification program.”
Websense and Avnet will initially offer two programs – one around web security and the other focused on messaging security. The courses run for two days and will be delivered by a certified Avnet trainer.
Websense marketing manager, David Brophy, said the company planned to launch further programs in the future.
“Next year, we’ll expand the programs to include data security, which is becoming a big focus for us. We’ll also break the web security program into a few, more specific streams,” he said.
Websense maintains a three-tier channel model, with each tier requiring a level of certification, Brophy said.
The program will complement the current Websense partner portal, an online resource for partners to increase their skills in product sets.
