McKenzie takes over as Telstra strategic marketing managing director

Telstra Wholesale chief replaces Bill Stewart, who is heading back to the US

Telstra Wholesale’s Kate McKenzie will replace the telco’s strategic marketing general managing director, Bill Stewart, as of March 30.

Stewart resigned from Telstra to return to his home and family in the US. He joined the company in 2005 to lead the newly created strategic marketing group. His responsibilities included corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions and brand management.

In a statement, Telstra CEO, Sol Trujillo, said Stewart’s market-based management skills improved its depth of customer knowledge and helped to provide competitively differentiated products and services to its customers.

Trujillo said he was pleased to have McKenzie, who has had four years experience as Telstra Wholesale’s managing director, takeover the role.

McKenzie will continue to report to the CEO and maintain her position on the CEO Leadership Team.

The changes come off the back of news that Trujillo will quit his post at Telstra on June 30.
