Bruce Linn has resigned from his role as a director and CEO of Camtech following the recent completion of the payment gateway vendor's acquisition by listed electronic transfer hardware group Keycorp.
Camtech developed a good reputation for its willingness to embrace Web developer and e-commerce integrator reseller channels in the distribution of its payment gateway technology.
In a lot of ways Camtech was Linn's "baby". He had been with the channel-savvy e-commerce services company since its birth as a technology offshoot from Adelaide University. He guided the sale of its substantial ISP business to OzEmail/UUNet and then steered a course for the company towards its e-commerce enabling focus which was snapped up by Keycorp late last year.
"Seven years is a very long time in this industry," Linn said in a press statement. "That is 42 Internet years, so I am ready for new challenges."
Linn said he will continue his role as chairman of the South Australian State Government-supported incubation initiative, The Playford Centre, while looking for new challenges in the IT arena. He will also remain director of Adelaide's Internet business Ngapartji and the Internet Industry Association.
"The truth is I have been so focused on ensuring the future is secured for Camtech that I have not had time to consider my future until now," he said. "It is, however, highly likely I will stay in the IT industry."
