Wacom opens digital classroom, unveils new tablet

Managing director unveils new product and highlights a new digital classroom at Rydalmere to help channel partners up-sell to their customers

Wacom has introduced a new product and training facility as part of the company’s broader channel strategy.

Speaking at the Intuos4 graphics tablet product launch, Wacom managing director, David Spencer, highlighted the company's new Rydalmere facility as a support tool for channel players.

“We provide a lot of support for channel partners and resellers directly,” he said. “We have a fully digital classroom at Rydalmere where we can teach resellers exactly how a product works, how to interface it, how to sell the right product to the right customer as well as hands-on experience.

“If they wanted to sell it into a business situation where they needed mobile secure authentication for one of our other products or if they want to educate their client as to how to interface our products into their day-to-day use, again, that is what the classroom is there for.”

The Wacom Intuos4 graphics tablet was also unveiled and includes 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity, ambidextrous customisation and ‘shortcut’ ExpressKeys.

Spencer, pointed out that while the Intuos4 is designed for creative industry professionals such as graphic designers, its target audience is broad, and would be marketed to a variety of market segments.

Intuos4 will be distributed by Ingram Micro, Conexus and Scholastic Media and Technology.

Prices range from $378 for the small tablet to $1328 for the extra large.
