Siemens integrator wins $2 million IT deal

Siemens integrator wins $2 million IT deal

Melbourne's largest independent hospital group gets a new IP communications system

IT integrator, Communications Australia, has completed a Siemens healthcare communications deal worth $2 million.

Melbourne’s largest independent hospital group, Epworth Healthcare, selected the Siemens HiPath 4000 systems to support a new IP communications platform designed to reduce costs and facilitate future growth.

“We’ve done it before and it’s pretty much foolproof to implement. It has been done globally and not just in Australia,” Communications Australia sales director, Alf Harding, said. “Once they see what our solution offers and the cost savings involved, it’s a much easier decision for them.”

According to Harding, his company first approached the hospital group in early January and clinched the deal with heavy support from the Siemens Enterprise Communications group (SEN Group).

“I’m always a team player and it’s very important that the vendor and the integrator work hand-in-hand. That’s with any project – you need to be pretty close and work with one team,” he said.

Harding was positive about the e-health market and said business was definitely on the rise, with many providers looking for non-core IT opportunities.

He also said the Siemens HiPath HiMed package recently brought into Australia by Rauland Australia would offer fresh healthcare opportunities.

“Because we offer total solutions, not just communications but also the entertainment and HiMed all-in-one solution, it’s a great opportunity for [healthcare providers] to get on-board,” Harding said.
