Startup cloud provider throws its hat into the ring

Hot on the heels of Vadis Systems, Triple Cloud has targeted its subscription cloud and software services at SMEs that cannot afford the products as an infrastructure investment

A new startup distributor has formally begun operations in the local market, with a focus on subscription-based cloud computing services.

Triple Cloud is a jointly-owned venture between industry veterans, Haim Admoni and Simon Foster.

Admoni has more than 20 years in sales roles, including WebCentral’s channel business, and PQ Africa. Foster, meanwhile, has Web experience with several online companies including DoubleClick, Mercury Interactive and BlueCentral.

The startup is being funded by the co-owners and is supported by a Government grant. Initially, it is carrying five niche cloud and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products – Best TV, ClickTale, Pace Systems Case Track, Interleado and TeamFrame.

The organisation has been in development for the past six months and Foster claimed interest in the startup was strong. Its launch follows hot on the heels of Vadis Systems, another startup which launched in Australia last week, and is already seeing some traction in the market. Vadis formed a partnership with security vendor, Astaro.

Foster was likewise confident in the market opportunities for Triple Cloud, claiming that offering high-end applications at a subscription price would lower the price of adoption for its target SME market.

“Admoni and I have worked in the channel before, and what we saw was the SME space was poorly serviced when it came to cloud and SaaS offerings,” he said.

“Resellers in that space see the opportunities this technology provides them, but don’t necessarily know how to take advantage of it. We see our own opportunities in that.”

Now is a good time, economically, to set-up a new business, he said.

“If you think of it this way – a business is always going to struggle in its first year, as it builds its presence in a market, so a minimal number of customers is less of a concern,” Foster said. “The indication is that we’re coming out of the economic difficulties and expecting growth, so we can set-up the business to take advantage of that.”

Triple Cloud has been active in gathering a reseller base, and now has 200 on-board. In addition to the co-owners, the business employs one additional staff member.
