Former S Central managing director, Peter Mavridis, has taken up a role as general manager at Chandler Recruitment. The news comes as liquidators are appointed by the courts to his former company, S Central.
According to documents posted by the Australian Securities Investment Commission, Gary Fettes of Rodgers Reidy Chartered Accountants was appointed as liquidator on February 22 by the Surpreme Court of Australia to S Central. The news signals the final stage of the integrator’s demise.
The news comes after Deloittes was appointed to S Central’s book debts on November 20 by its banking partner, NAB, just three weeks after the company sold its business assets to managed services provider, Brennan IT. The news caused a furore of concern from ex-S Central staff for their outstanding staff entitlements.
By going into liquidation, staff will now be able to claim outstanding entitlements through the Government’s GEERs program. According to sources close to S Central, Avnet was responsible for the court liquidator’s appointment, but the distributor’s managing director, Gavin Lawless, was unable to confirm the situation.
Brennan IT managing director, Dave Stephens, said having liquidators appointed would now allow staff to claim outstanding entitlements.
“From a staff perspective, we’re happy this has happened, as we want to make sure staff get what they’re entitled to,” he said.
Although Mavridis was initially expected to join Brennan, along with more than 40 S Central employees, Stephens said there had been no plans for him to come on-board.
Mavridis had not responded to calls for comment at time of going to press.
