Resource planning and optimisation software vendor wants to crack the local channel

Resource planning and optimisation software vendor, Ortec, has set up shop in Australia.

The company was founded by a group of academics and econometricians in Holland back in the 80s. It specialises in logistics planning products and has a number of clients in the retail and transport industry around the world.

Ortec had relied solely on software vendor, Infor, to distribute its offerings and decided to open an office in Sydney after experiencing some success in the region.

The planning software vendor is set to grow its channel and expects to sign one or two more partners in the coming months. It wants to significantly bolster partner numbers gradually.

Former Infor business development manager, Alan Thomas, and fellow IT industry veteran, Richard Simpson, have been appointed joint managers for Ortec’s Australian branch.

“The company wanted to support local customers better and decided to make an investment to set up an office and team here,” Thomas said. “We currently have three people employed, but we are looking to grow very quickly.”

Ortec has four clients so far, including two large-scale third-party logistics (3PL) companies, a major beverage company and a charity. Thomas is looking to grow the client base to 12 by year's end.

“Our solution has been used by global companies like Tesco, Coca Cola, Pepsi and TNT,” he said.
