HP's Robson gets promoted

ESSN director takes up Asia-Pacific role heading up HP's expanding networking division

HP’s local Enterprise Storage, Server and Networking (ESSN) director, Paul Robson, has been selected to head up its networking efforts across Asia-Pacific and Japan. The move comes a little more than 12 months after he was promoted to the director’s role.

Robson took up the vice-president and general manager for HP Networking posting from May 1. He is responsible for developing the vendor’s market presence and guiding its growth in the region by overseeing sales, channels and operations, an HP spokesperson said. He replaces Louis An.

Robson continues to be based in Sydney.

He joined Compaq in 1999 as a product marketing manager and held several roles across Personal Systems Group before becoming HP Partner Solution Organisation director in 2007.

Robson was recruited to the ESSN group in February 2009.

The HP spokesperson said it is now seeking a replacement to take up the ESSN role for HP South Pacific.

HP has announced significant plans to ramp up its networking market share through a dedicated networking division following the acquisition of 3Com. It ties into the vendor’s broader Converged Infrastructure strategy. Changes will include better integration of the HP ProCurve and 3Com channels along with product sets.
