UXC subsidiary, Red Rock Consulting, has scored a $16 million technical refresh contract with the Australian Department of Defence.
According to a statement, Red Rock will upgrade the department’s human resources management system (PMKeyS) to the new Oracle PeopleSoft HCM platform. It will also integrate its Reserve payments system, Centrespay II, into PMKeyS using PeopleSoft Global Payroll.
The upgrade is expected to take two years. Red Rock CEO, Jonathan Rubinsztein, said the significant deal would cement its position as the leading Oracle supplier in the nation’s capital. He told ARN it planned to at least double its base of 30 consultants in the state over the next 12 months. The company will also bring on a new team of 25 consultants to manage the new Defence rollout.
Red Rock was initially brought in by Defence to support the PMKeyS environment three years ago, but had to win the right to the technical refresh through an open tender process, Rubinsztein said.
He claimed local systems integrators like Red Rock were increasingly getting the opportunity to win large-scale projects, and pointed to its $35m win with Foster’s in conjunction with Capgemini late last year as an example.
“Often, organisations will partner with larger systems integrators for global rollouts, but certainly with larger deals here it makes sense to look at an on-shore agency – it reduces risk and lowers the costs compared to a US company,” Rubinsztein added.
Last month, the Department of Defence also called for submissions from providers to implement its Next Generation Desktop project. The deal will involve consolidating its desktop environment and introducing thin client technology across the agency.
