IDEAS bags big names
IT research consultancy IDEAS International has appointed former Telstra/Solution 6 director Lindsay Yelland as non-executive director and former IDC analyst Len Rust as chairman and non-executive director.
Sydney-based IDEAS supplies research data to technology vendors and purchases globally. The company has adopted a public company constitution in a first step toward listing on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Yelland was acting chief executive officer at Solution 6 and a group managing director at Telstra. He maintains chairman and directorship roles for several IT companies.
Len Rust was formerly the vice president of analyst International Data Corporation, Asia-Pacific. He is currently a director at Genie Systems Australia and chairman of the Government-funded Australian Distributed Incubator.
Ariba seeks suppliers
Ariba Australia is set to announce a set of supply hub partners which will be integrated directly into the Ariba Commerce Services Network (CDN).
The vendor has established a number of initiatives to encourage the development of supplier hubs. The new scheme will mean any buyer in a hub using Ariba's platform will be able to connect to these suppliers.
Sean Mathieson, director of Asia-Pacific global solutions delivery, Ariba Australia, said the vendor aims to cut out the need for multiple system integrators. Some of the new partners are to be announced in the lead up to Ariba Australia's annual conference at the end of February.
Mathieson said the new partners range from those with traditional systems integration backgrounds to new companies earning the majority of revenues from subscription and transaction fees rather than integration services.
C&W's $100M news
Cable & Wireless has announced it will supply media giant News Corporation with global telecommunications services worth approximately $100 million over the next three years.
The services will be used by worldwide subsidiaries such as News International, HarperCollins, STAR TV and News Limited in Australia. They will range from voice to data and Internet services and will be used to support the company's development of an integrated packet-switched network to support voice, video, data and Internet services.
In the Asia-Pacific, voice and data services will be used to support newspapers under News Limited in Australia and STAR TV in Hong Kong.
