A New Zealand-based company that operates in Australia has become one of the first escrow operators outside of North America to be featured by Microsoft.
Software Escrow Guardian general manager, Neil Gladden, said his company stored the program source code of resellers and vendors in case they went under or it became lost/damaged. This provided customers with certainty they’ll have access to the original source code.
“One of the requirements of the Certified for Microsoft Dynamics process is that your source code must be held with an Escrow agent,” he said. “Microsoft has featured a number of software escrow agents around the world.
“We are the only one currently outside the USA and Europe.”
Gladden said his services cost $1000 for the first year and $500 for each following year with a small discount available to Microsoft Dynamics software developers. He claimed his prices were slightly cheaper than his competitors overseas.
“We’ve only been featured this month but we’ve been agitating since November,” he said. “A number of Microsoft Dynamics ISVs are already our clients so it’s unlikely we’ll pick up a huge amount of new business.
“We’ve been in business for over 20 years.”
