Socomec invests in building local team

The power supply vendor is also on the hunt for more resellers

Power supply vendor, Socomec, has expanded its Australian team.

The vendor is looking to establish a strong foothold in the local market after landing in the country about a year ago.

Peter Jackson has been hired as its head of enterprise and datacentre project sales. He previously worked for Chloride Power Protection. The service division is lead by Jason Strange and prior to joining Socomec, he worked for Piller Australia.

Emerald Firli has also been hired as the vendor’s marketing manager. She previously worked for Ingram Micro and DPSA.

“We have a really good team in place. The new structure would allow us to be more involved with channel partners,” managing director, James Fraser, said.

“We’re investing in our Australian operations to serve the growing demands of the ever changing landscape of workplaces, network rooms, datacentres and cost of power availability.”

The vendor is seeking to expand its reseller network in the market. Its products are currently distributed through itX and Altech Computers. It has about 300 active resellers.

Fraser said its headquarters decided to make a big investment into the business with a particular focus to build the channel.

“We want to continue to grow that. We want reseller who are being pinched on hardware margins and aren’t making profit out of selling competitors products that are over distributed. We want to be able to bring to the table guaranteed profitable margins on our product,” he said.

“We’re trying to strengthen our relationship with partners through training and development and providing the sales tools to help sell our products and understand how to push power protection the market.

“We’re being used a benchmark globally to really start to transform Socomec into a channel-focused business.”
