Dell adds to its slim line laptop range

Aims to deliver power and portability

Dell is furthering its push for thin yet powerful computing with the unveiling of the Inspiron 13z, Inspiron 14z, and Vostro V131 laptops.

The Inspiron 13z and 14z are built with second generation Intel Core i3 or i5 (optional) processors. Both are equipped with SRS premium sound and 720p HD displays, where the 13z is 13.3 inches, and the 14z is 14 inches. Optional features include up to 4GB RAM, and a choice of either 320GB or 500GB hard drives, or 128GB of solid state flash storage.

The laptops’ design emphasises portable computing. Both are thin and lightweight, available in either diamond black or fire ref LCD back, with inbuilt full-size keyboard and HD webcam. The 14z also comes with an internal tray-load DVD combo.

Dell’s Inspiron range includes the Dell Stage user interface for one-click access to preferred data, and SyncUp software which allows cross-communication with other Dell PCs through a Wi-Fi network.

The Vostro V131 also comes with second generation Intel Core i3 or i5 processors, and contains a removable six-cell battery. The system also allows up to a 750GB 7200RPM hard drive.

For flexibility, the Vostro V131 allows various forms of connectivity, including WWAN, WLAN, and Bluetooth 3.0 options. It has an inbuilt full HD camera, SRS Premium Voice Pro, alongside two USB 3.0 ports.

All three laptops include the Windows 7 operating system.

The Inspiron 13z is currently available from $699 and the Vostro V131 is priced from $899. Dell has announced that its Inspiron 14z will be available in coming weeks.
