Fujitsu PC Australia has released 10 new PCs, making its entry into the desktop PC environment.
The models available are the Esprimo E Series, P Series, Q Series, C Series and D Series – each built on the new Huron River platform.
The company decided to move into the space as it had previously serviced the desktop PC markets in Japan, Europe and some areas in the US, and intended to further integrate it into the Asia-Pacific geography. It previously only offered notebooks under the Lifebook range in Australia.
“It’s something that we have toyed with for a while because there has been a lot of discussion, both with our customers and internally. I guess this is the best time to get into that space,” Fujitsu PC Australia marketing manager, Robin Tang, said.
Fujitsu PC Australia country manager, Bert Noah, said both prospective customers and the channel wanted a viable choice in the commercial desktop space.
The models are broadly categorised into superior (consisting of the Esprimo E900, P900 and Q900), advanced (consisting of the Seprimo C700, E700 AND P700) and all-round (consisting of the Esprimo E400, P400, E500 and P500) series.
The range is targeted at the commercial segment. Some of the products specifically target SMEs, SMBs or government departments.
“Consumer on its own is a different ballgame, we are not forgetting them but we are not ready for it and I can’t see ourselves playing in that space for some time,” Noah stated.
The range comes with four DIMM slots as standard, 4GB of RAM for the entry level models – which can be upgraded to a maximum of 32GB, backward compatible options for both serial and parallel ports, DVI port connection and a durable black chassis.
It also features Intel’s active management, anti-theft, trusted execution and virtualisation technologies.
The company also launched a new notebook, the Fujitsu Lifebook SH771, which aims to be powerful and have a smaller footprint. The 13.3-inch model weighs from 1.22kg in a magnesium alloy body, and delivers 9.5 hours runtime on a standard battery and up to 14 hours with a modular bay battery option.
Users have an option between an Intel Core i7 or i5 processor and with 640GB or 750GB hard disk drive at 7200rpm or the top end model with a core i7 with 128GB SSD plus 8GB RAM.
The Lifebook SH771 is equipped with an USB Anytime Charging plus feature and a USB 3.0 port that allows users to charge various models of smartphones and gaming devices without having to power up the laptop.
It also supports Intel wireless display, has a fingerprint sensor and is powered by the new Intel Huron River platform with HM65 chipset.
It is available from Bluechip Infotech and Multimedia Technology, with prices starting from $2188.
The Esprimo range is now available to selected partners from Bluechip Infotech and Multimedia Technology, at prices from $1288. General availability will start from January 2 next year.
