APP OF THE DAY: TED

Useful for people who use planes a lot

TED
Cost: Free | Developer: TED Conferences | Platform: iPad | Version: 1.6.2 | 11.9 MB |

A good conference presentation can inspire confidence, motivate and persuade. TED has always been about making the good presentations available for everyone.

TED on the iPad does a good job of providing those presentations to users on the go. It works much like YouTube in that it streams videos, but thanks to the focus of the application on TED talks, it’s far easier to navigate through to find something interesting.

Videos are given tags and topics to help you narrow down the kinds of themes you’re interested in. It’s also possible to search for keywords.

Users are also able to save videos on the device itself for offline viewing – useful for people who use planes a lot.

Of course, in terms of content, many of the TED talks straddle the line between being insightful and pretentious, but for fans of the service, this is easily the best and easiest way to access it on your iPad.

Pros: Watch TED talks anywhere, any time. Easy to find the TED talk you want.

Cons: Aside from the ability to save videos locally, there’s surprisingly little by way of features.

Verdict: TED fans will enjoy this.
