Residents and businesses around Coffs Harbour, Taree, and Port Macquarie are slated to have access to high-speed fixed wireless broadband as part of the National Broadband Network (NBN), according to NBN Co.
Approximately six per cent of premises in Australia will be getting the NBN through fixed-wireless or satellite technology while 93 per cent will be through fibre.
Full rollout of the fixed wireless network is not due to be completed until 2015 with a footprint that will span 15,000 premises in over 170 suburbs.
Peak download and upload speeds for the fixed-wireless service is 12Mbps and 1Mbps respectively.
There are currently 10 ISPs supplying an NBN fixed-wireless trial service.
