MyNetFone to offer NBN retail and wholesale services from June

The VoIP and broadband telco officially receives NBN certification while its subsidiary gets the tick to be a NBN wholesale aggregator.

VoIP and broadband telco, MyNetFone (ASX: MNF), has gained certification to sell broadband services on the National Broadband Network (NBN) while its subsidiary, Symbio Networks, has become an authorised NBN wholesale aggregator.

Services will be available from late June.

The telco released its NBN pricing back in March with prices starting from $39.95 per month for 20GB of data.

It is bundling in a VoIP service to the NBN broadband plans for free though customers will have to pay for calls made on top.

In August 2011, MyNetFone announced it would be acquiring VoIP provider, Symbio Networks. The latter signed an NBN Co wholesale broadband agreement in March but was just recently certified as a wholesale aggregator.

One of its drawcards is its proprietary number porting system which allows resellers to port phone numbers into the Cloud.

Symbio will initially be working with some wholesale trial customers in NSW. Once wholesale NBN services are deployed in the state, the company will moves to establish permanent points-of-interconnect (PoIs) in Tasmania.

“This is a significant development, as Symbio will be one of only a few direct wholesalers making the investment to offer NBN services in Tasmania,” MyNetFone said in a statement.

“Symbio sees this is a key opportunity to give providers access to a long-overlooked market, and to give Tasmanian end-users a wider choice of providers and an alternative to the big telcos.”

Symbio Networks will set up interim sites across the country before converting them to permanent PoIs.
