Scroggie resigns as Symantec MD

His position will be filled by Symantec.cloud business vice-president, Brenton Smith.

Craig Scroggie has resigned from his role as Symantec managing director in Australia, passing the baton to Brenton Smith.

Scroggie has been with the security vendor for eight and a half years. He decided to leave in order to pursue other business interests but could not disclose any more information until after he finishes up at Symantec.

The date when Smith takes over from Scroggie has yet to be determined and will be announced in the coming weeks. Scroggie will be working closely with Smith during the handover.

“I am very proud of what the local [Symantec] team has achieved – they are a wonderful, talented, and inspiring team of people,” Scroggie told ARN in a statement. “I am leaving behind an outstanding leadership team and I will miss working with them.”

He also thanked Symantec’s partners and customers for their support over the years.

Smith joined Symantec one year ago as Symantec.cloud business vice-president in Asia-Pacific after leaving his role as CA Technologies managing director in Australia. He has worked for a number of other IT companies including BusinessObjects, Siebel Systems, Brightstar IT Group, and SAP.

Bjorn Engelhardt will take over the Symantec.cloud business while Bernard Kwok will run the Asia-Pacific and Japan channel and SMB portfolios, which Smith was responsible for, in the interim.
