HTC starts countdown to One smartphone launch

Gives sneak peak of HTC One, formally M7 smartphone

HTC has posted a countdown timer to its HTC One smartphone launch.

The clock is ticking away the seconds and minutes until next week's HTC One launch on 19 February, formally known as the HTC M7. Each time the last digit reaches one, a brief glimpse of the new device is shown. See also: HTC M7 to launch on 19 February.

There's not a great deal to see from the short and sharp flashes which are complete with excessive amounts of lens flare. The main focus is on the rear facing camera which will supposedly introduce new Ultrapixel technology.

We are also shown some nice curving edges of the white handset, a prominent HTC logo and a white band running from edge to edge. You can see all the combined flashes of the new HTC One which will succeed the HTC One X+ in the video below. See also Group test: what's the best Android phone.

A recently leaked image claiming to be the HTC One also happens to be white and sports the same bevelled edge shown off in the brief clip.

The HTC One's rumoured specifications include a 4.7in Full HD (1920 x 1080) screen, 13Mp camera and a 1.7GHz quad-core processor.

It's also been suggested that HTC will launch two other phones along with the One, called the M4 and G2. They will have a 4.3in and 3.5in display respectively. The M4 will supposedly come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the G2 will ship with the older 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

It's not long until HTC's pre-MWC (Mobile World Congress) event in London so all will be revealed.
