UberGlobal launches Australian public Cloud

Range of products include Hosted Lync from Microsoft

Web service provider, UberGlobal, has launched an Australian public Cloud service that includes a range of hosted products including Microsoft Lync.

UberGlobal said, in a statement, that the first Australian public Cloud service is targeted at small and medium businesses.

UberGlobal CEO, Denis Jorgensen, said Lync is the latest addition to UberGlobal’s business and wholesale product offerings, aimed at empowering Australian businesses with the technology they need to increase productivity and accelerate the pace at which work gets done.

“Hosted in datacentres at Sydney and Canberra, Microsoft Lync ushers in a new connected and more secure user experience transforming every communication into an interaction that is more collaborative, engaging, and accessible anywhere,” he said.

Microsoft Australia SMB director, Gianpaolo Carraro, said the company is aiming to transform the small business communications landscape, through Microsoft Lync for its partners, with an open ecosystem that enables innovation and personalisation of services, applications and hardware.

“UberGlobal with their breadth of experience in the Government, SMB and large enterprise sectors coupled with their depth of expertise in hosting solutions enables them to deliver robust and attractive services to the channel through their distribution partnership with Ingram Micro,” he said.

UberGlobal chief technology officer, Dwayne Varey, said the introduction of hosted Lync will enable companies in Australia with more choice.

“At times we’re lacking awareness in Australia with regard to compliance, regulation and data management in the Cloud. A decision to migrate services and data into the Cloud is often driven by cost benefits and CAPEX reduction so a lot of organisations don’t think about these issues.

“With Microsoft Lync, Aussie businesses have the choice to have their data and services hosted in local datacentres with UberGlobal,” he added.

Some of the key product features of Lync include: anywhere connectivity, simplified communications, federated connectivity, and easy access to presence, instant messaging, audio, video, and Web conferencing.
