Unisys Australia is investing $5 million and creating 50 new jobs by expanding its Sydney-based Shared Services Centre.
The systems management and client support facility provides back-office processes including payroll, order-to-invoicing and purchasing services, order management and accounts. It initially had seven employees when opening four years ago but will now have 130 staff serving 15 Asia-Pacific countries.
"The New South Wales Government can take satisfaction in the fact that Sydney quickly became the clear choice for this global reorganisation and expansion. The skills were right, the economics were right and the track record of support from the government has been significant," said Tom McGlinn, worldwide financial services vice president for Unisys.
Minister for IT Kim Yeadon will open the facility, which adds European, Middle Eastern and African back-office order-to-invoicing operations to the existing Asia-Pacific portfolio. The centre will relocate to a new building in Rhodes, Sydney next year.
