Victorian State Government goes digital with its eServices Register

New eServices Register launched on Ariba Network aims to improve procurement

The Victorian State Government is going digital with its eServices Register, built in partnership with SAP company and Cloud-based business commerce company, Ariba.

The register is an online self-service portal that all Victorian Government departments and agencies will use to purchase ICT services. In addition, suppliers looking to do business with State Government can register and create detailed profiles that outline their services and capabilities.

To power the portal, the Victorian Government will leverage the Ariba Network and the Cloud-based applications delivered on it, including Ariba Sourcing and Ariba Supplier Information Management.

The Victorian Government chief technology advocate, Grantly Mailes, said going digital will enable it to increase the efficiency and transparency of its procurement process.

Mailes claimed that it will also provide a larger pool of companies, including local small and medium-sized ICT businesses, with the opportunity to offer their services to government, stimulate innovation, drive a healthy and competitive market, and create an enabling environment.

“Our selection of Ariba fits with the Victorian Government ICT Strategy in terms of using commercial off-the-shelf software to provide value for money where possible,” Mailes said.

SAP Southern Australia general manager, Justin Williams, claimed that in building its eServices register on the Ariba Network, the Victorian Government can create a more efficient, transparent and cost-effective procurement process and drive meaningful change in the way government business is done.

“Business networks and Cloud-based applications are fast becoming standard tools in the private sector to drive business transformation. But as agencies like the Victorian Government have found, they deliver compelling results in the public realm as well,” Williams said.
