Asus to make new Nexus 10, not Samsung

Samsung has competition from Asus for new Nexus 10 tablet

Asus will allegedly be the manufacturer behind the next Google Nexus 10 tablet.

The new version of the Nexus 7 is nearly upon us in the UK and Google has, like the original, opted for Asus as its manufacturing partner. The Samsung made Nexus 10 is due to be updated soon and although it had been rumoured Samsung would get the gig, it's now emerged that Asus has pulled a double.

Multiple original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) submit designs to Google and the firm then decides which will get the honour of carrying the Nexus brand. According to Geek, Asus has impressed Google so much that it will be making the Nexus 10 2 as well as the new Nexus 7.

Multiple sources told the site that the Nexus 10 will be available from the Google Play Store and retailers in time for the holiday season. Geek also got hold of a retail system listing the Nexus 10 under Asus.

It seems quite convincing but the rumour does go up against The Wall Street Journal which got its information about Samsung once again making the Nexus 10 from none other than Sundar Pichai, president of Android and Chrome for Google at the Nexus 7 launch.

We're not too fussed about which vendor builds the Nexus 10 this year. We're more interested in what changes and upgrades will feature but there's no information on this yet. With the new Nexus 7 running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon, it's likely we'll see the same for the Nexus 10. It could also introduce Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
