Aldi Mobile halves data allowance

Aldi Mobile has halved the monthly data allowance on its unlimited pre-paid plan

Aldi Mobile has halved the monthly data allowance on its unlimited pre-paid plan.

The low cost MVNO, which uses the Telstra wholesale 3G network to provide its service, has cut the data allowance on its unlimited prepaid plan from 5GB to 2.5GB per month.

The cuts come just two months after the telco struck a deal directly with Telstra wholesale, following the collapse of original wholesale provider ispONE.

ispONE entered voluntary administration in August, effectively cancelling its contract to provide 3G mobile services to both Aldi Mobile and Kogan Mobile.

Kogan Mobile was forced to shut down as a result, but Aldi Mobile struck an agreement directly with Telstra wholesale.

Aldi Mobile's two pay as you go plans, $15 and $30, along with its $15, 2GB data-only plan for tablet devices both remain without any changes.

Aldi Mobile first launched in Australia back in March.
