SonicWALL earns NSS Labs recommended rating

SuperMassive E10800 receives commendation for second year running

Dell’s SonicWALL SuperMassive E10800 firewall program has earned a recommended rating in NSS Lab’s 2013 Network Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) security value map.

The manufacturer announced that its next generation firewall (NGFW), running SonicOS 6.0 and integrated intrusion prevention service had received the recommended rating from the independent tester for the second year in a row.

The category is the highest accreditation awarded by the Texas based third party evaluator. During the testing process, the E10800 reportedly blocked 97.6 per cent of attacks against server applications, 92.5 per cent of attacks against client applications and 94.8 per cent overall.

The E10800 is also said to have performed above the vendor-claimed level at 18,044 Mbps. The security value map report said that only three of the products in the analysis performed below the manufacturers claims.

Of the 10 products tested by NSS Labs, four scored over 95 per cent for security effectiveness not including management and all scores ranged from 89.2 and 97.9 per cent. This combined with the reduction in total cost of ownership across the board shows that large scale firewall services from many providers are becoming more effective and affordable at the same time.
