Networking vendor, Cisco, has shown its support to Females in IT and Telecommunications (FITT) by becoming a Gold Corporate Partner on the not-for-profit network’s 25th anniversary.
FITT was founded in New South Wales in 1989 and provides programs around mentoring, networking events and access to female role models in the IT industry to women at all levels of their career. The organisation covers all IT disciplines, including sales, technical, marketing, and finance.
The partnership will see Cisco and FITT run joint co-branded events and participate in each other’s existing programs to spread access to opportunities.
“As the Internet of Everything accelerates, there is a growing need for our current and future workforce to be prepared to implement the next generation of IT across all industries,” Cisco Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) head of Connected Women, Cassandra Crothers, said.
“Recognising the need for more female participation in IT, Cisco is honoured to partner with FITT to provide more career and personal development opportunities to women and help close the gap.”
Cisco said it has had a long and successful history of advocating women’s advancement in the workplace and is active globally through its Connected Women Network.
The Network is a worldwide community of professional women who connect at Cisco Live and throughout the year to exchange thought leadership.
“Cisco has always been at the forefront of driving gender equality in careers of their workforce, so we are delighted that they have selected FITT as a partner,” FITT chair, Terrie Anderson, said.
FITT also partners with Canon, CA Technologies, Ernst and Young, Fujitsu, NICTA, Optus, Salesforce, Symantec, Telstra, and VMware.
