Trend Micro releases free heartbleed scanners

For PC and Android

Trend Micro has launched free Heartbleed scanners for PC and Android devices.

The Tokyo based security firm said the release was in response to growing concern from the public over potential vulnerabilities to the security bug.

The company has offered two different versions of the Heartbleed detector, a Google Chrome browser plug in for PC and an Android mobile app.

Researchers from the company suggested that mobile apps are just as susceptible to the bug as a number of websites.

A blog post from Trend Micro regarding the release said that vulnerabilities to the bug are decreasing every day. It also stated that the threat will never go away entirely and users still need to be wary of potential threats to their personal devices.

The Trend Micro Heartbleed scanner is available from the Chrome Web store and Google Play.
