New research from Telstra has shown that Australians are watching their favourite shows on mobiles, such as smartphones and tablets.

The company made the announcement alongside the release of its new suite of phone, broadband and entertainment bundles.

The company said it will offer free digital set top box to existing customers who don’t already have one.

The telco has also released its third ‘Connected Home Index’. The study found 30 per cent of Australians would watch TV on their connected smartphone or tablet if given the chance.

Telstra said the research highlighted a rising trend in content consumption on various devices at one time. 70 per cent of respondents reportedly admitted to multi-screening, while one in three said it was a daily practice.

The most popular device combinations for multi screening according to the study are TV and smartphone (33 per cent), followed closely by TV and tablet (28 per cent) and TV and laptop (27 per cent).

Telstra said the new bundles will give our customers the ability to create more TV screens in the home.

Foxtel Go has been added to selected entertainer bundles. The company said consumers will be able to retain high quality services in home phone and broadband.
