Trend Micro defends World Cup fans from cyber attacks

New online resource centre offers information on latest threats

Trend Micro has launched an initiative to help protect users from potential security threats during the FIFA World Cup that begins on June 12.

The security developer is working to help defend against potential cyber threats relating to the upcoming tournament.

It has created an online resource to help fans and attendees with tools and information they can use to protect against potential cyber attacks.

Trend Micro said its resource centre will provide information to the general public about threats detected by the company’s threat defence experts. It will include tips on what to avoid when receiving World Cup offers, purchasing merchandise, email threats and malware.

The resource centre also offers free software to protect computers and mobile devices from malware and other threats.

Trend Micro has set up a quiz to help fans determine what type of sport fan they are and what threats they may be susceptible to as a result.

The security firm has also produced a blog post that outlines World Cup related threats already detected by Trend Micro security experts as an additional resource for fans.
