Laurie Cox has retired from his post as SMS Management and Technology (ASX: SMX) chairman following 13 years with the company’s Board.
Derek Young, who has served as SMS director since November 2011, has been named Cox’s replacement.
Cox joined the SMS Board in May 2001, and has overseen it through a major transformation and a decade of strong growth and profitability.
During his stint, the company completed 14 acquisitions, expanded its geographic footprint and broadened its range of services to include system integration, data management, and cloud based managed services.
Commenting on Cox’s period as Chairman, chief executive officer (CEO), Tom Stianos said, “We have been fortunate to have the benefit of Laurie’s guidance and counsel over the last 14 years. There is no question the Company has benefited greatly from his extensive experience in Australian and international markets spanning five decades.”
Young takes over with more than 30 years’ experience in the consulting industry, and has served as Accenture Australia managing director and Accenture Asia-Pacific (APAC) financial services managing partner.
