Victorian managed print specialist, Viatek, has expanded its ICT portfolio and market reach through the acquisition of Barwon Computer Solutions (BCS), a business based in north Geelong.
BCS is a managed and Cloud services provider which offers server and local area network (LAN) installations to small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
As part of the agreement, BCS has been rebranded to Viatek ICT, and is led by Brendan Calleja, who formerly served as general manager for Viatek’s Victorian operations.
The acquisition extends Viatek’s technical reach cross-state, complementing the MSP’s recent purchase of Sydney-based CN Group which gave it a foothold in the NSW market.
“Viatek has had great success with a number of significant acquisitions in the ICT space over the past few years across Victoria and NSW; most recently, the CN Group in January,” Calleja said. “With the BCS acquisition, Viatek has a technical and support presence in Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Traralgon and Melbourne; this gives us the ability to service clients anywhere in Victoria.”

The next 12 to 24 months will involve the merging of back-end systems, re-engineering processes, and maintaining focus on service.
“Our staff all work on a single platform for managing clients and tickets, so those clients don't have to keep explaining their business to each person who responds to a help desk query, or arrives on their doorstep to resolve a problem or pro-actively manage something,” Calleja said.
