SMS CEO announces retirement

Tom Stianos to step down after 26 years of service

SMS Management & Technology Limited chief executive Tom Stianos will retire at the end of this calendar year after 26 years with the company and 13 years in the role.

The Melbourne-based consulting, technology and solutions development provider was founded in 1986 and now has offices throughout Australia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore.

SMS chairman, Derek Young, said: “Tom’s decision gives the board time to undertake an external search as well as assess internal candidates ensuring an orderly transition before Tom retires.”

Stianos said the company had become a big part of his life and he will continue to be a supporter and loyal shareholder.

“In the meantime I look forward to this half year and delivering an improved profit performance.”

Young acknowledged the contribution Stianos made during his time with the company and tenure as CEO.

“Under his leadership, SMS has diversified its services, acquired 14 specialist businesses, established technology partnerships and expanded into the Asia Pacific region.”
