Datacore boosts software-defined storage push with new Sydney office

Company appoints a raft of new staff to drive sales in A/NZ

DataCore has bolstered its A/NZ operations with a raft of new senior staff and a new Sydney office as it seeks to exploit growing demand for software-defined storage.

The company has appointed Ian Heath as its regional sales director for A/NZ and has picked up new customers including House of Travel, based in New Zealand, and Dennis Family Homes, a major Australian home builder.

Datacore marketing manager, APAC, Orla Hanby, will also spearhead a new marketing function, in Melbourne, that will drive demand generation programmes and better serve the DataCore A/NZ partner ecosystem with qualified prospects who have been exposed to and educated about the benefits of software-defined storage.

It will also expand its team of system engineers and solutions architects serving as on-demand resources for customers and partners.

The ANZ team is also enhanced by a distribution network that includes: Avnet Technology Solutions, Independent Data Solutions (IDS), NewLease and Westcon Group.

The reseller channel also extends the DataCore ecosystem throughout A/NZ.

Resellers include: Addax, Data#3, Data.com, DiGiCOR, Flexnet, Lincom Solutions, Think Solutions, and numerous others.

There will also be new inside sales and customer care resources to increase sales engagements, more local webinars and local events.

The company has opened a DataCore A/NZ office in Sydney joining an expanded DataCore office in Melbourne.

It has also seen a 50 per cent increase in sales growth compared to last year’s first half of business.

DataCore vice-president, Asia Pacific, Peter Thompson, said the company started the software-defined revolution in storage and had thousands of customers worldwide.

"[It] is well positioned with a presence and a high-calibre team in A/NZ to amplify our industry impact.

“Customers are realising through DataCore that it’s not about the storage," he said.

"Instead, it’s about turning the focus to data by delivering unmatched availability, utilisation and performance.”

According to a company statement, customers in key industry segments are using DataCore’s software-defined storage services platform to eliminate downtime, to achieve up to a four-fold increase in capacity utilisation, up to tenfold increase in performance, to reduce storage costs by as much as 75 per cent.

Notable DataCore A/NZ accounts include: Murdoch University, St John Ambulance Australia (Vic) Inc and Family Planning Victoria.

In healthcare, the company counts Bendigo Radiology and Canterbury District Health Board as customers.

While in government it has Kingston City Council, Public Transport Authority of Western Australia, Greater Dandenong City Council, Australian Taxation Office, Statistics New Zealand, and Roads and Maritime Services (NSW)

It also provides its software-defined storage solution for Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Ports of Auckland, Nintendo Australia Pty Ltd., and Jetstar Airways Pty Ltd.

Heath said the storage industry was undergoing major disruption and the time was right for DataCore A/NZ to breakthrough and seize the market opportunity.

“The reality is that in region an increase in the adoption of software-defined storage strategies proves the tremendous value that DataCore offers by not only integrating customers’ storage architectures, but safeguarding their data for continuous availability, as well as accelerating access to data for the fastest response and highest throughput.”
