Sapply marks five years in business

Branching out into New Zealand and Singapore has paid off for the enterprise-focused distirbutor

Enterprise focused IT distributor, Sapply, is celebrating five years in business.

The distributor, established in September 2009, has offices in Sydney, New Zealand and opened a Singapore branch about 12 months ago.

It mainly deals with resellers in the enterprise space and some global PC manufacturers.

Sapply sales director, Gordon Taylor was one of the business founders and has about 20 years experience in IT distribution. He has previously worked for Multimedia Technology and BCN Technology.

“We saw a great level of interest in business-to-business enterprise space, and people wanted large amounts of data quickly. Back then, no one in distribution seemed to be focused on that,” he said. “A lot of them wanted to get into that, but they didn’t have the right vendors or clients to do it. From early on, we had a couple of vendors that wanted to work with us and we had a number of resellers and PC OEMs that wanted to do business with us.”

The company states its business has grown 30 per cent year-on-year following demand for its services.

Sapply credits its understanding of enterprise business requirements as its key differentiator between other distributors in the market.

“It’s a sector that is growing rapidly and will continue to grow as business expects more value from technology,” Taylor said. “More businesses want to store larger amounts of data, access it quickly and share it with more users and the products we represent, make this happen.”

Sapply’s line-up includes vendors such as Mellanox, Solidfire, Kemp, Teradici, Amulet HotKey, Solarflare, and 3M.

Since starting up the business five years ago, Taylor said the company has remained focused on its core competencies in the enterprise space.

“We’ve been focused on what we want to achieve, the customers and vendors we want to work with,” Taylor said. “Opening up an office in New Zealand was a bit of a learning curve, and likewise with Singapore, but it’s paying off very well.”
