Hitachi Data Systems introduces program for Cloud service providers

Information management company also adds improved controls and integration to its Unified Compute Platform.

Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has introduced a new Cloud Service Provider (CSP) Program.

The initiative comes at the same time as the introduction of Hitachi Cloud, HDS’ new Compute-as-a-Service that will be hosted in datacentres run by Equinix.

HDS Cloud service provider program director, Dave Kosman, said the intention of the program is to create a network of CSPs that offer HDS-powered Cloud services.

“The program establishes a ‘shared risk, shared reward’ model to ensure predictable economics and business success for partners,” he said.

HDS will assist CSPs in designing and packaging HDS-branded Cloud services, as well as co-marketing and co-selling those services.

An added APAC-specific Hitachi Cloud Services Connection (HCSC) program is designed to assist partners in offering “customisable and localised” Cloud solutions.

Support for more

Enhancements have also been made to HDS’ Unified Compute Platform (UCP) to streamline the process of building and managing a Cloud.

HDS vice president of solutions marketing, Ravi Chalaka, said organisations that build and manage private and hybrid Clouds now have new options to access VMware vCloud Air and Microsoft Azure.

“Our upgraded converged solution gives users the business agility and reliability they need to transform their business with the Cloud,” he said

Building and deployment of private and hybrid Cloud can be controlled with UCP Director infrastructure automation software for Microsoft or VMware environments, with visibility into physical and virtual infrastructures simplified down to a “single plane of glass.”

Chalaka said the native integration of Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 and VMware vCenter Server into UCP is to support “existing and familiar management frameworks” found in today’s businesses.

Patrick Budmar attended HDS’ A/NZ Partner Summit 2014 as a guest of HDS.
