Fortinet is set to test its network security performance against live cyber attacks.

The security vendor joined Ixia, a network testing firm, to validate firewall performance under real-life attacks on networks of mid to large-sized enterprise.

The tests will be conducted at two seminars to be held in Melbourne and Sydney.

Fortinet said seminar attendees will observe what happens when Fortinet's solution is challenged with a combination of real-world applications and advanced attacks, generated by the Ixia network test platform.

The firm said the experience of Fortinet’s ATP solution in a real-world testing environment will give participants the experience of how a network will respond when under attack.

Fortinet sales director of Australia, Genevieve White, said “Today, an enterprise’s network is under constant siege from ever-increasing, multi-vector attacks. The decisions CIOs and IT managers make regarding security have far-reaching impacts on the enterprise,”

The firm said IT decision makers roles are becoming more demanding. According to Fortinet, this is due to rising volume and complexity of advanced persistent threats (APT); DDoS attacks and other threats; along with the demands of emerging technology trends like Internet-of-Things and biometrics.

The two firms will conduct a hands-on demonstration, in which it is said CIOs and CSOs will learn how a multi-layered, coordinated strategy can recognise and respond to different attacks being launched against a network.
