Asus' ZenWatch will go on sale at Bing Lee for $289

On sale at Google Play and in stores from April

Bing Lee is the only retailer thus far to range the Asus ZenWatch. Asus has confirmed the smartwatch will go on sale at the retailer in April, but representatives have not yet set a date.

The price of the ZenWatch undercuts that of Motorola’s Moto 360, LG’s G Watch R and the upcoming Apple Watch at $289.

Keen ZenWatch owners can order it now from Google’s online Play store, or place a pre-order from Asus’ website.

Asus’ smartwatch is part of a wave of wearables with a focus on design. The body is made from stainless steel, the Gorilla Glass 3 coating the screen curves for a more comfortable finish and the leather band supports the interchangeable 22mm standard.

The corners of the square smartwatch have been softened and it supports a variety of sensors needed to track health and fitness, including a 9-axis sensor and a biosensor.

These sensors measure steps taken, calories burned, heart rate, activity duration, exercise intensity and relaxation levels. The accompanying ZenWatch application calculates a ‘relaxation score’ and charts relaxation levels over time.

Asus has partnered with Jawbone to make its smartwatch compatible with its UP suite of software. Jawbone’s software records sleeping patterns, activities and dietary intake.

Incoming calls can be muted by covering the screen and the smartwatch doubles as a remote viewfinder for a smartphone’s camera.

Good Gear Guide will be reviewing the ZenWatch soon. Full hardware specifications follow as per Asus’ official press release.
