Panasonic Australia has appointed Sektor as a distributor for its rugged Toughpad tablets and Toughbook laptops in Australia.
Panasonic product marketing manager, Toughbook, Jason Lee, said Sektor was well regarded in the industry for its market strength and expertise in the areas of mobility and retail technology, with specific knowledge around ruggedised tablets and notebooks.
"This is a key partnership for us, as Panasonic continues to grow the success of its rugged brand in Australia,” he said.
“Over the last 12 months, Panasonic Toughbook has achieved significant sales growth.
"Moving from rugged PCs to rugged tablets has opened up greater scope for our workforce mobility offering, and has allowed us to expand into new markets.”
He said a key pillar of the company's continued strategy for growth was to collaborate with distribution and channel partners to deliver solutions for customers in key vertical markets.
"We look forward to working with Sektor in delivering this.”
According to a company statement, Panasonic now has the largest market share worldwide of rugged PC devices, and has been deploying rugged mobile computing solutions since 1996.
As a core manufacturer with facilities based in Kobe, Japan, Panasonic controls the entire Toughbook process of design, manufacture and quality assurance.

Sektor general manager, Cameron Arnold, said that the Toughbook and Toughpad range of products and solutions complemented Sektor’s existing core expertise around Enterprise Mobility.
