NimBiz inks Emersion distribution deal

Offers fraud prevention solution for VoIP resellers

NimBiz has signed a commercial agreement with Melbourne-based Emersion Software Systems to deliver the firm’s billing and fraud prevention solution for VoIP resellers.

According to a company statement, the agreement, with an initial term of three years, gives NimBiz access to Emersion’s Cumulus platform a carrier grade converged billing, service provisioning and customer management platform.

NimBiz chief executive, Ray Trevisan, said the company had been looking for a partner with the right technology solution for some time, and although there were a number of solutions available.

“Whilst we sought a billing and provisioning system that was simple for our resellers to use, a mandatory requirement was for a system that could detect fraud or malicious activity in near real-time and take action to prevent any further unauthorised use of the service,” he said.

“The Emersion team have been very responsive to our needs, providing a solution based on our specific requirements. The ability to dilute and vastly reduce the exposure to potential telco fraud is something that the market has long been demanding”.

The Cumulus system allows for the creation of customised pricing plans and branding can be tailored, with invoices able to be sent under the reseller’s brand.

NimBiz said its industry experience highlights key reseller concerns of credit control, fraud prevention and customer self-service.

“This is a simple solution that will be welcomed by resellers such as IT businesses and Systems Integrators who want to expand their offerings to include high margin cloud voice services,” Trevisan said.

“Our final testing is in progress and we are now actively looking for resellers to join us as we conclude our trials and roll into commercial service.”

Emersion chief executive, Paul Dundas, praised the NimBiz telecommunications backgrounds and said the company was well positioned to create a unique channel to the market.

“Their strategy to enable smaller resellers with a low risk entry to the market and empowering their downstream Service Providers with fraud prevention and credit risk management is insightful,” he said.
