Hyper converged infrastructure company, SimpliVity, has expanded its personnel including two leadership appointments in response to a 250 per cent year-over-year increase in sales.

The US-based firm appointed Jose Almandoz as senior vice-president of operations and Randi Nichols as vice-president of human resources.

Almandoz previously held various executive positions with Novell, including CIO and vice president of global field operations. Nichols was most recently vice-president of human resources at Masonic Health Systems.

In total, the company hired 150 new team members and now boasts more than 550 employees, and growing at a pace of about 10 people per week.

It said demand for its hyperconverged infrastructure solutions continued to accelerate globally in the first half of 2015.

Simplivity chief executive, Doron Kempel, said In just two years of shipping product, the market has been overwhelmingly receptive to the concept.

Deployments of its hyperconverged infrastructure total more than 2000 globally, with about 550 large and mid-sized enterprises counted as customers, nearly 380 per cent year over year growth in the sector.

The company has seen 50 per cent of total sales come from outside the US.

In March, Simplivity secured $US175 million in series D financing, with a valuation of more than $US1 billion.
