Veeam hires Andy Vandeveld as global alliances vice-president
Virtualisation software company, Veeam, has appointed Andy Vandeveld as its vice-president of global alliances. The announcement was made at Veeam’s VeeamON event, currently ongoing in Las Vegas.
In this new role, Vandeveld will oversee Veeam’s strategic relationships with its alliance partner eco-system, in order to carve out new business opportunities to advance the delivery of Veeam’s Availability solutions through, for example, Cloud-based and software-defined channels.
In addition, harnessing the core of Veeam’s Better Together partner philosophy, Vandeveld will spearhead revenue acceleration within the wider Veeam partner base and look to form tighter ties with systems integrators across the globe.
Veeam said, in a statement, that it’s expanding the breadth of its leadership team to further its deep-rooted partnerships and business opportunities with alliance partners such as Cisco, EMC, HP, Microsoft, NetApp and VMware.
Prior to joining Veeam, Vandeveld has held a number of executive positions at companies such as Citrix, where he was vice-president of enterprise partner sales, and at Brocade as worldwide vice-president of global systems integrators.
At Veeam, Vandeveld will report directly to the company’s worldwide sales and marketing senior vice-president, Daniel Fried.
In addition, the company also announced its Q3 earnings result. Veeam saw a 17 per cent increase in quarterly revenue bookings, and an 86 per cent growth in year-on-year revenue, specifically for its Veeam Availability Suite Enterprise Plus edition solution.
In the Asia-Pacific region, the company said it is experiencing 28 per cent year-on-year growth in total revenue bookings.
Veeam CEO, Ratmir Timashev, claimed it is no surprise that customers are adopting a holistic availability approach for their entire enterprise as they make it known that legacy backup solutions are failing to meet the demands of the always-on enterprise.
“Thus, last quarter, we saw our enterprise results increase dramatically as these customers conclude that they need a holistic availability approach for their entire enterprise and not just a pieced together, ad-hoc design using legacy systems,” he added.
Veeam’s growth has not been limited to enterprise sales of Veeam Availability Suite. The Cloud has also been a massive driver of Veeam’s success. For example, the Veeam Cloud Provider program reported an increase of 73 per cent in the number of transactions year-over-year, and has more than 9700 service and Cloud providers as part of the program worldwide.
World Vision, a global humanitarian organisation, is one of the 11,300 new customers that made the decision to abandon legacy backup in favour of Veeam Availability solutions. Veeam said its legacy backup tool was providing poor performance, which led their IT team to seek a true availability solution.
“Now that they have deployed Veeam, World Vision is able to provide its 46,000 staff members in 105 countries 24x7x365 access to applications and data.”
In addition, the company has also announced the free Linux Availability Solution, Veeam Backup for Linux. It is a free standalone agent that delivers backup and recovery for Linux servers running in the public Cloud or on-premise.
